 HOW TO APPEAR IN GATE EXAM PAPER

WHAT IS GATE EXAM?

GATE stands for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering. GATE is an all India test that examines the capability in the student to test and understand several undergraduate subjects of engineering. GATE is conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science and seven IITs (Indian Institute of Technology) including IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Roorkee, IIT Guwahati, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, and IIT Madras on behalf of the government of India. On giving GATE exam paper, you can apply for post graduation under many big colleges. Also, there are many officials where you can apply after giving GATE exam.

HOW TO APPLY?

To appear for the GATE exam, the candidate/student must apply for the GATE exam paper online. You can apply for the exam after login to the GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS) Website. It allows enrollment of the candidate, application filling and at last the application submission process by the candidate. A last date for the submission of the application for the exam will be given, try to apply it. Try to avoid last minute rush.  The authorities will provide you the admit card online. You just need to download it and keep its copies.

WHY TO APPLY?

After applying for the graduate aptitude test in Engineering (GATE), you will become eligible to take admission under various post graduation programs including ME, M.Tech. The GATE score will reflect the knowledge of the student and the performance level. Also, by giving GATE 2018, the candidate can get employment in Public Sector Units (PSUs). GATE is called a standard examination that only makes you eligible to apply for post graduation but also opens several options of employment in public sectors.

HOW TO APPEAR IN EXAM? 

  • The GATE exam is conducted every year with 23 different options of paper to apply. The candidate needs to choose any one paper among the three. The exam conducted will be ONLINE Computer Based Test (CBT).
  • To appear in the GATE Exam Paper, the candidate needs to fill the application form online. All the supporting documents must be sent online. No hardcopy will be accepted.
  • After filling the form, the candidates need to submit the application fee for the exam. Payments must be made through ATM card/Debit card, credit cards, internet banking or e-challan only.
  • The application fees for Male candidates with general or OBC category will have to pay Rs.1500/- and women candidates or candidates with category SC/ST will have to pay Rs.750/- only.

  • The candidates who have completed their graduation or are in the final year can apply for this exam.
  • The candidates must have a degree certificate
  • Also, they must have a certificate from principal
  • The eligibility criteria that all the candidates must follow for appearing in the GATE exam are as follows:
  1. Bachelor’s degree holders in Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture (4 years after 12th standard) or anyone appearing in the final year.
  2. Bachelor’s degree holders in Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture (Post-B.Sc./Post-Diploma) or anyone appearing in the final year.
  3. Candidates in the final year of the post graduation program in engineering/technology.
  4. Master’s degree holders in any branch of science/mathematics/statistics/computer applications or those who are in the final year of the same program
  5. Candidate with dual degree program in engineering/ technology
  6. Candidates with qualification obtained through examinations conducted by professional societies recognized by UPSC/AICTE
  • For appearing in the GATE exam, there must some prior knowledge about the paper. The first part is compulsory in all papers which will consist of the General Aptitude with 10 questions with a total of 15 marks. The rest percentage of the questions will be different fort the exams with different codes.
  • The total questions in the paper are 65 with a total of 100 and the time was given will be 3 hours. The paper will consist of multiple choice questions and numerical type questions. The test will be in online mode.
  • The virtual calculator will be provided to the candidate. There is no need for the candidate to bring a calculator for the exam. Neither will it be allowed.
  • The clock will appear for the candidate on the screen and it will be set by the server and the exam will stop as soon as it reaches zero.
  • The question palette at the right-hand side will show you the details of which question is left un-attempted and which is skipped or which is attempted.

So, these were all the details about the GATE exam and a short review on what you should do and how you should appear for the exam. The online application for the exam must be filed before the last date. As after it, the application will not be accepted. So, keeping all these points in mind, you must appear for the exam.
